Is MT4 faster than MT5?

MT4 is not always faster than MT5, because execution speed depends more on the broker's servers, liquidity providers, internet connection, and order routing than on the platform itself.

MT4 can feel lighter because it is older and simpler, which suits traders who only need basic forex execution and Expert Advisors. MT5 is newer and more advanced, with stronger multi-threaded processing, faster strategy testing, and support for more asset classes.

For live trading, the faster platform is usually the one connected to the better broker infrastructure, not MT4 or MT5 by default.
