What are the system requirements for MetaTrader 5?

MetaTrader 5 runs on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, with a 64-bit processor that supports SSE2, which every modern CPU does. Older builds supported Windows 7 and 8, but recent versions need Windows 10 or later.

For RAM, 2 GB to 4 GB covers basic manual trading on a few charts, while 8 GB to 16 GB is more practical once you run multiple charts, indicators, Expert Advisors, or several terminals at once. Heavy backtesting, automated trading, or multiple monitors run better on 16 GB to 32 GB. RAM is not the only factor: processor speed, a stable internet connection, and SSD storage also affect performance, and the requirements rise as you add active symbols, open charts, and automated tools.
