Ripple's projected $900M annualised revenue fails to avert 6% XRP decline

  • A $900 million annualised product revenue run rate is Ripple’s forecast for the end of 2026, underpinned by expansion across its financial services business.
  • Alongside Ripple’s US dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin, XRP continues to serve as a bridge asset for cross-border transactions, according to CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
  • Following a 6% fall, XRP is putting support at $1.24 to the test.

Ripple’s forecast of $900 million in annualised product revenue by the end of 2026 has not prevented XRP from falling 6.6% on Thursday.

Ripple payments network approaches $150B in cumulative volume as RLUSD expands

By the end of 2026, cumulative transaction volume on Ripple’s payments network is on course to reach $150 billion, the company reported. International money transfers are supported by more than 60 payout markets.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said: “As traditional and digital finance converge, market infrastructure is migrating to modern rails. Settlement is moving to real-time, 24/7, and tokenized assets can be traded, financed and used as collateral,”

More than 1,700 institutions, corporations and enterprises rely on Ripple’s infrastructure, the company noted. Its services cover payments, digital asset custody, stablecoins, prime brokerage and treasury management.

With growth of more than 88% year-to-date, Ripple’s US dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, has reached a market capitalisation of $2.6 billion, the company also said. Across its product range, RLUSD functions as an enterprise-grade digital dollar, with uses including payment settlement and on-chain markets.

XRP retains cross-border bridge role, Garlinghouse says

Critics have questioned whether RLUSD could reduce the need for XRP as the stablecoin’s market capitalisation approaches $2.6 billion. Rejecting that argument, Garlinghouse defended XRP’s function as a bridge asset for cross-border payments alongside Ripple’s expanding stablecoin and financial services businesses.

“Anyone who doesn't think that XRP is at the heart of everything Ripple does is kind of missing the big picture from my point of view,” Garlinghouse told Bloomberg in an interview.

In his account, RLUSD complements XRP rather than replacing it: the stablecoin offers businesses a route into digital asset infrastructure, whereas XRP fulfils a separate function in cross-border transactions.

Asked what XRP offers that RLUSD does not, Garlinghouse said: “A stablecoin is by definition a stable coin of one token, of one dollar,” He added that a dollar-denominated stablecoin alone cannot meet the requirements of every currency corridor.

He said: “XRP continues to be an asset we use as a bridge asset between different currency pairs,”

Under this description, XRP acts as a potential intermediary in transfers between currencies, while customers needing US dollar-denominated settlement are served by RLUSD.

Garlinghouse added: “Having a neutral bridge asset that's very very very low cost and scalable is something we think will continue to be appealing to different corridors,”

XRP technical outlook: $1.24 support comes under pressure

The near-term bias remains bearish on XRP’s daily chart after its correction extended beneath the short- and medium-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). Overhead, the 20-, 50- and 100-day EMAs form a dense resistance cluster. A 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading near 35, together with an oversold Stochastic around 16, indicates that downside momentum remains strong but is approaching exhaustion.

The horizontal level near $1.24 provides immediate downside support, followed by lower levels at $1.17 and $1.04. Should selling gather pace, $0.98 would mark a more distant floor. For a sustained recovery to take hold, XRP would first have to regain the EMA cluster between $1.33 and $1.35. Above that, resistance lies at $1.37, followed by the previous barrier at $1.48 and the major resistance area around $1.66.
