XRP Price Forecast: Ripple edges up amid whale net outflows and easing selling pressure

  • $1.30 is in sight for XRP. Improving risk appetite and a wider crypto market rebound support the advance.
  • 696 million XRP in cumulative whale net outflows across multiple exchanges could relieve near-term selling pressure.
  • Strengthening momentum indicators support XRP’s prospects for a lasting rebound.

$1.30 remains close as Ripple (XRP) advances modestly on Wednesday. The move extends a wider crypto market rebound against the backdrop of the United States (US) midterm elections. The Democratic Party has secured victory in the Senate and is on course to take control of Congress.

Above $78,000, Bitcoin (BTC) is showing signs that its recovery can persist. This follows a sell-off triggered by the Binance hack that drove it to a six-week low near $76,000.

Although the short-term direction of least resistance appears to be higher, XRP is not yet out of danger. Price needs to reclaim important structural levels, including major moving averages.

696 million XRP in whale outflows as selling pressure eases

696 million XRP had been withdrawn on a cumulative whale net basis across multiple cryptocurrency exchanges as of Wednesday. The total was 399 million XRP on 28 October, putting the increase over the last seven days at 74.5%.

If exchange outflows persist, XRP reserves and the supply readily available for spot sales can shrink. That could alleviate selling pressure.

CryptoQuant also reports that Binance’s XRP Whale vs Retail Spread jumped to 98.4% on Tuesday. This was its highest level since 15 October 2024, against a reading of 65.1% across all centralised exchanges.

These measures alone, however, do not establish a strong, lasting source of support for XRP’s recovery over the coming sessions. They need to be assessed alongside key technical indicators and patterns in retail and institutional demand.

$1.29 holds: XRP bulls gain traction in technical outlook

Above $1.29, XRP retains a bearish near-term bias, with price still below a closely packed cluster of Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) and the SuperTrend line. The middle Bollinger band around $1.30 sits just above the pair, indicating an important ceiling near current levels. Overhead, the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day EMAs stand at $1.34, $1.32 and $1.37, respectively. Together, they reinforce the view that the market remains in a corrective phase.

A Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading near 46 contrasts with Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), which has edged into positive territory. These mixed momentum signals suggest that upward pressure is improving but remains fragile.

Near $1.30, the middle Bollinger band provides the first resistance. Next come the 100-day EMA at $1.32 and the 50-day EMA at $1.34. Closing above these levels on a daily basis would clear a path to the upper Bollinger band at $1.36, followed by the 200-day EMA at $1.37. A more substantial hurdle to a lasting rebound is the SuperTrend line near $1.40. Below current prices, the lower Bollinger band around $1.23 marks the next significant support area. A breach would likely revive bearish momentum, leaving XRP vulnerable to further losses in the days ahead.

Ripple: key questions answered

Specialising in cross-border remittances, payments company Ripple uses blockchain technology to deliver its services. Its payments transfer network, RippleNet, was developed by Ripple Labs Inc. and is available to financial institutions around the world. The XRP token is also used by the company.

The decentralised XRPLedger blockchain has XRP as its native token. Ripple Labs uses it to enable transactions on XRPLedger, allowing financial institutions to transfer value across borders. By supporting instant, trustless payments on the XRPLedger chain, XRP helps financial firms reduce the cost of transactions worldwide.

Built on distributed ledger technology and blockchain, XRPLedger uses XRP to power transactions. Unlike other blockchains, it incorporates an inflammatory protocol designed to combat spam and distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks. Maintenance of XRPL is handled by a peer-to-peer network called the global XRP Ledger community.

Payments between different networks are supported by the interledger standard, the blockchain protocol XRP uses. XRP’s blockchain can, for example, link the ledgers of two or more banks, effectively eliminating intermediaries and the need for centralisation within the system. Developed by Jed McCaleb, Arthur Britto and David Schwartz, the XRPLedger blockchain uses XRP as its native token.
