3 Top Price Predictions: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple – Big Tech earnings in focus as BTC, ETH and XRP rebound

  • $80,900 is surpassed as Bitcoin's recovery continues on Wednesday. Investors weigh the forthcoming Big Tech earnings.
  • Between its 100-day and 200-day EMAs, Ethereum remains in consolidation ahead of its next directional move.
  • Support around $1.300 earlier this week helps XRP sustain its recovery.

$80,900 is surpassed by Bitcoin (BTC) on Wednesday. Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) also continue to recover as investor focus shifts to earnings from major technology companies. Q3 results from Microsoft and Alphabet are scheduled for Wednesday, with Amazon following on Thursday. Concerns about hyperscaler valuations could ease if the results support sustained heavy spending on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Disappointing earnings, however, could prolong the current AI-driven market sell-off.

Above $80,900, BTC continues to advance, whereas ETH remains rangebound between key moving averages. Support near $1.300 earlier this week has also helped XRP maintain its recovery.

$81,000 in View as Bitcoin Advances

At $80,926 on Wednesday, Bitcoin retains a constructive outlook. It remains above the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The closest dynamic support lies around $80,810 at the 50-day EMA.

With the EMA cluster below the current price, the broader uptrend appears intact. Momentum indicators are less supportive: the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is near 46 and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) reading is negative. These suggest bullish momentum is fading and further rallies could encounter growing resistance.

A daily close above the $85,000 horizontal barrier, the immediate resistance level, would restore scope for a more substantial advance.

The 50-day EMA near $80,810 provides the first downside support. Below it sit the 100-day EMA around $77,810 and the 200-day EMA near $76,394. A breach of this EMA cluster would likely signal a deeper correction.

100-Day and 200-Day EMAs Frame Ethereum Consolidation

At $2,357 on Wednesday, Ethereum sits between its major EMAs, with the short-term outlook neutral to mildly bearish. Beneath the price, the 200-day EMA at $2,316 and the former rising trendline support, now a pivot around $2,351, remain just intact. Overhead, the 100-day EMA at $2,362 continues to cap gains, while the 50-day EMA is considerably higher at $2,450. Rallies towards these levels are therefore likely to attract selling.

Buying pressure appears muted, with the RSI below its midline at 38. Although the MACD is edging upwards, it remains negative. Recovery attempts thus still appear to be part of a correction, rather than a confirmed bullish reversal.

The first upside hurdle is the 100-day EMA near $2,362. A break above it would bring the psychological and structural resistance at $2,400 into focus. Further resistance lies at the 50-day EMA at $2,450, followed by the more distant horizontal barrier at $2,770.

The trendline pivot around $2,351 offers initial downside support, ahead of stronger demand at the 200-day EMA at $2,316. A daily close beneath that zone would clear a path towards deeper horizontal support near $1,823 and strengthen the broader corrective outlook.

XRP Recovery Continues

At $1.336 on Wednesday, XRP remains beneath the 50-day EMA at $1.360 and the 200-day EMA at $1.372. Despite the latest rise, this leaves the near-term outlook bearish. Initial trend support comes from the 100-day EMA at $1.333, just below the current price. An RSI around 46 points to limited momentum. Meanwhile, the MACD has edged into positive territory, signalling easing selling pressure, although the overhead EMAs still restrict the price.

The 50-day EMA at $1.360 is the first upside barrier, ahead of the 200-day EMA at $1.372. Only a daily close above this cluster of averages would open a path towards the higher horizontal resistance levels at $1.540 and then $1.900.

The 100-day EMA at $1.333 offers the nearest downside support, followed by the horizontal floor at $1.300. Losing $1.300 would strengthen the bearish outlook and leave room for deeper declines. Holding this zone, by contrast, preserves the possibility of further consolidation below the EMA cluster.

Crypto ETFs: Key Questions

By tracking the price of an underlying asset, an Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) serves as an investment vehicle or an index. Its scope can extend beyond a single asset to groups of assets and sectors. A Bitcoin ETF, for instance, follows the price of Bitcoin. Investors use ETFs to obtain exposure to a particular asset.

Yes. In October 2021, approval for the first US Bitcoin futures ETF was granted by the US Securities & Exchange Commission. Seven Bitcoin futures ETFs have received approval in total, while more than 20 still await regulatory clearance. According to the SEC, the cryptocurrency industry is new and susceptible to manipulation. This is its stated reason for delaying crypto-related futures ETFs over the last few years.

Yes. January 2024 saw the SEC authorise the listing and trading of several Bitcoin spot Exchange-Traded Funds. This opened access for institutional capital and mainstream investors to trade the leading cryptocurrency. The industry welcomed the decision as a game changer.

Exposure without ownership is the key benefit of crypto ETFs, allowing investors to reduce the risk and cost of holding a cryptocurrency. They also require less learning and provide greater security for investors, as the ETFs assume responsibility for safeguarding the underlying assets. The principal drawback is the absence of direct asset ownership, captured by the crypto saying “not your keys, not your coins.” Active management fees charged by ETFs are another disadvantage, adding to the costs associated with holding crypto. Although ETFs reduce the risks of holding an asset, movements in the underlying cryptocurrency's price are still likely to be reflected in the investment vehicle.
