Concerns that Democrats’ control of both chambers of the US Congress could bring tighter regulation of cryptocurrencies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are weighing on Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP). All three face fresh selling pressure in the second half of this week.

Key resistance zones continue to constrain these top three cryptocurrencies. BTC has closed below its 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), while rejection at important resistance levels for ETH and XRP also suggests a deeper correction may lie ahead.
At $76,157 on Friday, Bitcoin remains in a corrective phase beneath its key Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), leaving the short-term outlook bearish.
Above BTC, the 200-day EMA stands at $76,497, followed by the 100-day EMA at $77,778 and the 50-day EMA at $79,837. This close grouping suggests that medium- and longer-term trend resistance continues to cap the market.
Momentum indicators reinforce that subdued picture. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is in the upper-30s and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains negative, suggesting that renewed selling could interrupt rallies.
Any recovery would first encounter the 200-day EMA near $76,497, before the 100-day EMA at $77,778 presents a second obstacle. Beyond those levels, the 50-day EMA at $79,837 marks a higher supply zone, followed by horizontal resistance around $85,000. The immediate data set offers no clearly defined support, so a further retreat would probably need to establish a new floor below the current price. Recovery attempts, meanwhile, are likely to face difficulty while BTC remains below this cluster of moving averages.

Trading at $2,237 on Friday, Ethereum continues its correction below the major EMAs, preserving a bearish short-term outlook. The 200-day EMA at $2,315 and the 100-day EMA at $2,348 remain above ETH, with the 50-day EMA higher still at $2,397. These successive layers of trend resistance suggest limited scope for rallies.
Although the MACD has turned slightly positive, the RSI around 39 points to weak momentum. Together, the indicators suggest that attempts to advance still face pressure from prevailing overhead supply.
A recovery would initially meet the 200-day EMA at $2,315, then the 100-day EMA at $2,348. Further up, the 50-day EMA at $2,397 and horizontal resistance at $2,400 create a concentrated barrier below the broken rising trendline near $2,412. A sustained break above this group of levels would temper the bearish outlook and clear a path towards the next major obstacle at $2,770.
Immediate support lies broadly around the current price, while $1,823 provides a more important structural floor. A breach of that level would leave Ethereum exposed to further losses within the wider correction.

At $1.221 on Friday, XRP remains beneath the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), which are grouped between $1.320 and $1.375. This positioning keeps the short-term outlook bearish.
The upper boundary of the falling channel, now projected near $1.257, has also proved beyond XRP’s reach. Momentum remains subdued: the RSI is around 38, while the MACD is marginally negative close to the zero line. These readings suggest limited upside rather than a convincing recovery.
The upper channel boundary around $1.257 provides the first resistance, ahead of the horizontal barrier at $1.300. Above that, the 100-day EMA at $1.320 and the 50-day EMA at $1.326 create a more substantial supply zone. Medium-term obstacles then lie at the 200-day EMA of $1.375 and the subsequent horizontal levels of $1.540 and $1.900.
The first downside support lies at the horizontal level of $1.160, followed by a stronger floor at $1.000. While XRP stays below the grouped moving averages, rallies towards resistance are likely to be regarded as corrective moves within the broader bearish outlook.

Demand and adoption among market participants are influenced by token launches. When an asset is listed on a crypto exchange, its liquidity deepens and new participants join its network. Such developments are generally positive for a digital asset’s price.
In a hack, an attacker uses exploits, bugs or other methods to seize a large quantity of an asset from a DeFi bridge, an exchange’s hot wallet or another crypto platform. The stolen tokens are then moved off exchange platforms, ultimately to be sold or swapped for other cryptocurrencies or stablecoins. Widespread panic often accompanies these incidents, prompting a sell-off in the affected assets.
The direct effect on the US dollar is the main channel through which macroeconomic events, such as interest rate decisions by the US Federal Reserve, influence crypto assets. Higher interest rates generally weigh on Bitcoin and altcoin prices, while lower rates tend to have the opposite effect. A fall in the US dollar index makes risk assets and the associated leverage used for trading cheaper, helping to push cryptocurrency prices higher.
By cutting miners’ block rewards in half, halvings restrict the supply of an asset and are therefore generally regarded as bullish events. If demand holds steady while supply falls, the asset’s price rises.
