A sluggish cryptocurrency market is keeping Dogecoin’s (DOGE) recovery tentative on Tuesday, with the meme coin trading just above $0.0800, up 1% on the day from lows near $0.0785. Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) are also finding it difficult to build momentum.

The short-term outlook nevertheless remains tilted to the downside. Despite the intraday fluctuations, Dogecoin’s technical structure leaves prices hemmed in below a key descending trendline, with a cluster of moving averages and dynamic indicators also acting as overhead barriers.
The Federal Reserve’s (Fed) monetary policy decision on 28 October remains the main focus for cryptocurrency markets. The CME FedWatch Tool puts the probability of unchanged interest rates at 83%, reflecting the prevailing expectation among market participants. A 25-basis-point hike carries a priced-in probability of 17%.

Retail participation in derivatives is picking up gradually, although perpetual Open Interest (OI) eased to roughly 15 billion DOGE on Tuesday from 15.7 billion DOGE a day earlier. Aggregate OI is also below the August highs of more than 17 billion DOGE. That decline points to softer leveraged positioning as prices currently stabilise around $0.0800.

At $0.0806, Dogecoin remains in a corrective structure, trading beneath its key Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). Recovery attempts face overhead constraints from the 50-day EMA at $0.0859 and the 100-day EMA at $0.0854. Further up, the 200-day EMA at $0.0919, together with the SuperTrend line at $0.0912, underlines the broader downside bias.
The recent stabilisation above $0.0800 has yet to dislodge sellers’ control, judging by the subdued momentum readings. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is close to 39, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains below zero.

Any rebound is likely to encounter selling pressure first around $0.0854-$0.0859, the resistance band defined by the 100-day and 50-day EMAs. Beyond this cluster, the SuperTrend at $0.0912 and the 200-day EMA at $0.0919 together present a tougher hurdle. Only a daily close above that zone would start to weaken the prevailing bearish structure.
If buyers first overcome those intermediate resistance levels, the next objective for a more durable recovery lies around $0.1033. The earlier break of the downward trendline at that level presents a structural obstacle to further gains.

An increase in Open Interest is linked to greater liquidity and fresh capital entering the market. It is viewed as an improvement in market efficiency, with the existing trend continuing. By contrast, falling Open Interest is regarded as a sign of market liquidation: investors are exiting and overall demand for the asset is weakening, reinforcing bearish sentiment.
By raising the liquidation risks traders face, funding fees narrow the gap between an asset’s spot price and its futures contract prices. When funding rates remain high and positive, they signal bullish market sentiment and expectations of a price increase. Persistently negative funding rates, on the other hand, reflect bearish sentiment towards the asset: traders anticipate a decline in the cryptocurrency’s price, and a bearish trend reversal is likely.
