Why has XRP fallen 6% despite Ripple's projected $900M annualised revenue?

  • Growth across Ripple’s financial services business underpins its expectation of reaching a $900 million annualised product revenue run rate by the end of 2026.
  • Alongside the company’s US dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin, XRP continues to serve as a bridge asset for cross-border transactions, according to CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
  • Following a 6% decline, XRP is putting support at $1.24 to the test.

Selling pressure has pushed XRP down 6.6% on Thursday, even as Ripple projects annualised product revenue of $900 million by the end of 2026.

Can Ripple’s payments network reach $150B in cumulative volume as RLUSD grows?

With international money transfers supported across more than 60 payout markets, the company said its payments network remains on course to reach $150 billion in cumulative transaction volume by the end of 2026.

Describing the shift in financial infrastructure, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said: “As traditional and digital finance converge, market infrastructure is migrating to modern rails. Settlement is moving to real-time, 24/7, and tokenized assets can be traded, financed and used as collateral,”

More than 1,700 institutions, corporations and enterprises rely on Ripple’s infrastructure, the company noted. Its services cover payments, digital asset custody, stablecoins, prime brokerage and treasury management.

A market capitalisation of $2.6 billion for its US dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, marks growth of more than 88% year-to-date, Ripple also said. Across the company’s product suite, RLUSD functions as an enterprise-grade digital dollar, with uses including payment settlement and on-chain markets.

Why does XRP remain a bridge asset for cross-border payments, according to Garlinghouse?

Critics contend that RLUSD could reduce the need for XRP as the stablecoin’s market capitalisation approaches $2.6 billion. Rejecting that view, Garlinghouse defended XRP’s role as a bridge asset for cross-border payments alongside Ripple’s expanding stablecoin and financial services businesses.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Garlinghouse said: “Anyone who doesn't think that XRP is at the heart of everything Ripple does is kind of missing the big picture from my point of view,”

Rather than replacing XRP, RLUSD complements it, he explained. The stablecoin offers businesses a route into digital asset infrastructure, whereas XRP fulfils a separate function in cross-border transactions.

Asked what XRP can do that RLUSD cannot, Garlinghouse said: “A stablecoin is by definition a stable coin of one token, of one dollar,” He added that a dollar-denominated stablecoin alone cannot meet the requirements of every currency corridor.

He said: “XRP continues to be an asset we use as a bridge asset between different currency pairs.”

His remarks frame XRP as a possible intermediary for currency-to-currency transfers, with RLUSD catering to customers that need US dollar-denominated settlement.

Garlinghouse added: “Having a neutral bridge asset that's very very very low cost and scalable is something we think will continue to be appealing to different corridors,”

XRP technical outlook: Can $1.24 support hold?

The near-term outlook remains bearish on XRP’s daily chart, as the correction has taken the token further below its short- and medium-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). A closely grouped band of 20-, 50- and 100-day EMAs forms an overhead ceiling. Meanwhile, the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) near 35 and an oversold Stochastic reading around 16 indicate that downward momentum remains strong but is approaching exhaustion.

Daily price chart for XRP/USDT

The horizontal area near $1.24 offers immediate downside support, followed by lower levels at $1.17 and $1.04. Should selling gather pace, $0.98 provides a more distant base. For a sustained rebound, XRP would first have to move back above the EMA cluster between $1.33 and $1.35. Resistance beyond that lies at $1.37, followed by the earlier barrier at $1.48 and the significant resistance zone around $1.66.
